Online Midweek Service
6th May @ 19:30 - 20:30
Join the Birmingham International Church of Christ for our online midweek congregational meeting via Google Hangouts Meet.
You can join by desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone by clicking here.
Alternatively, you can also join by phone. To do this dial +44 20 3956 3590, and when prompted enter the PIN number 848 669 280# and this will take you into the meeting as an audio only participant.
On desktops and laptops you will be taken to your web browser, with no additional software to install. Speakers – or even better headphones – are required, the microphone and camera are optional.
On mobile phones and tablets you will be guided to installing the Hangouts Meet app. This works on both Android and IOS platforms and should be a straightforward process.
Please feel free to test and connect right now, although if you ask to Join the meeting no-one will reply until the event starts.
Do test your camera, face bright indirect light and avoid background light. You are free not to use any camera, but it is always nice to see some beautiful smiling faces. Normally you will however just see the speaker and the last few people who were unmuted. We will not be seeing a myriad of 100 homes on the screen!
Please note that after the first 5 meeting entrants, you will all enter the meeting muted.
Please be familiar how to mute and unmute yourself. If calling in from a phone you will need to press *6
On other systems you will see a mic symbol on the bottom of your session.
If too many people speak at the same time or are unmuted the feedback and background noise may be unbearable. If you can, please use headphones.
We will be monitoring all callers and may mute people in the interest of the meeting, but please note we cannot unmute you. Only you can unmute yourself.
There is a chat column. Feel free to use this very actively!
When we sing do not unmute unless you are using headphones and no other device connected to this virtual meeting is in the same room. We will have one participant singing, and the lyrics on presented slides that you will see on the screen, so please do sing along at home!
For most we recognise this will be purely a listening experience. We are experimenting with all this technology and even this platform, so please be understanding and bear with us. We welcome your feedback afterwards on what can be done better, or any alternative methods.
Finally, please pray for the technology and the meeting to be a success. We deeply appreciate your support and patience. God has brought us together for such a time as this.
